Description

  • Lead the development of major team-scoped projects and participate in cross-team initiatives for Remote's HR and Payroll products.
  • Actively participate in product work by providing feedback, suggesting technical solutions, and proposing product improvements.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of the team’s domain from both product and engineering perspectives.
  • Review code, contribute to the shared codebase, and provide feedback on others' work.
  • Debug and resolve technical and business issues and participate in support rotations and RFC discussions.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to other engineers and participate in the hiring process.
  • Investigate, propose, and implement improvements to the platform and engineering practices.
  • Implement interfaces and APIs with attention to performance, accessibility, and sound API design.
  • Redesign how engineering work ships by making autonomous agents the default execution layer and operationalize agentic workflows end-to-end (spec → plan → execute → verify).
  • Build reusable agentic workflows and primitives and use verification loops (tests, checks, evals, guardrails) to ensure results are correct, secure, reliable, and scalable.

Requirements

  • Strong engineering fundamentals with a proven track record of shipping secure, reliable, and scalable production systems.
  • Practical experience designing or adopting agentic/automation workflows (or comparable systems) and iterating on them.
  • Ability to think in systems: define specs clearly, break down plans, instrument verification, and close the loop on quality.
  • Experience with Postgres or a similar relational database.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools and pipelines (GitLab, GitHub, Jenkins or similar) and frequent CI-driven deployments.
  • Familiarity with Elixir and Phoenix (backend) and awareness of frontend stacks used at Remote (React, Next.js) is beneficial.
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.
  • Experience with AWS or other cloud hosting environments is a plus.
  • Comfortable working asynchronously in a fully remote, distributed team and available to start as soon as possible.
