Description

  • Lead the development of major team-scoped projects and participate in cross-team initiatives for Remote’s HR and payroll products.
  • Design, build and maintain tools, APIs, and integrations for product features and platform improvements.
  • Participate in product work by providing technical feedback, suggesting solutions, and using technical insights to influence product decisions.
  • Contribute to and review the shared codebase, providing feedback on code reviews and maintaining code quality.
  • Debug and resolve technical and business issues across the stack to ensure secure, reliable, and scalable operations.
  • Propose, design and operationalize agentic/automation workflows end-to-end (spec → plan → execute → verify) to deliver outcomes faster.
  • Build reusable agentic workflows and primitives so teams can apply them across domains.
  • Implement interfaces and APIs with attention to performance, accessibility, and API design.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to other engineers and participate in hiring, support rotations, RFC discussions, and other non-team activities.
  • Investigate, propose and participate in platform improvements and introduce verification loops (tests, checks, evals, guardrails) to ensure correctness and reliability.

Requirements

  • Strong engineering fundamentals with a track record of shipping production systems that are secure, reliable, and scalable.
  • Practical experience designing or adopting agentic/automation workflows (or comparable systems) and iterating on them.
  • Ability to think in systems: define specifications clearly, break down plans, instrument verification, and close the loop on quality.
  • Experience with Postgres or a similar relational database.
  • Experience with CI/CD workflows and tools (GitLab, GitHub, Jenkins or similar).
  • Experience leading projects and mentoring other engineers or equivalent senior-level ownership.
  • Comfortable working asynchronously and remotely across distributed teams.
  • Nice-to-have: experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and AWS.
  • Nice-to-have: familiarity with frontend frameworks and tools such as Next.js, React, Vue, or Angular.
  • Willingness to participate in support rotations, hiring processes, and cross-team collaboration.
