Description

  • Manage a small product team of 3-5 engineers across backend and frontend work.
  • Spend about 30% of the time on management responsibilities while still actively contributing to product development.
  • Participate in hiring for the team and support peers with hiring when needed.
  • Own onboarding for new engineers joining the team.
  • Manage team dynamics, act as spokesperson for the team, and help bring out the best in each member.
  • Give continuous, constructive feedback and provide guidance and coaching to direct reports.
  • Support the growth and career development of each direct report and the team as a whole.
  • Redesign engineering delivery to use autonomous agents as the default execution layer.
  • Propose and operationalize end-to-end agentic workflows from specification through verification.
  • Build reusable agentic workflows and primitives, and use verification loops to ensure outcomes are correct, secure, reliable, and scalable.

Requirements

  • Managed an engineering team of at least 2 people.
  • Extensive experience with backend development using Elixir/Phoenix, Ruby, or functional programming.
  • Strong engineering fundamentals and a track record of shipping secure, reliable, and scalable production systems.
  • Practical experience designing or adopting agentic or automation workflows, or comparable systems, and improving them through iteration.
  • Ability to think in systems: define specs clearly, break down plans, instrument verification, and close the loop on quality.
  • Solid communication skills.
  • Solid knowledge of engineering and development principles and best practices.
  • Proven organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to inspire others, instill confidence, and understand team dynamics.
  • Ambitious, intentional about diversity, equality, and inclusion, and aligned with Remote's values.
  • Strong automation and AI capabilities and AI fluency.
  • Ability to apply for the role with a CV in PDF format and in English.
