Description

  • Manage a small product team of 3-5 engineers across backend and frontend work.
  • Spend about 30% of the time on management while actively contributing to product development the rest of the time.
  • Participate in hiring for the team and support peer hiring efforts when needed.
  • Own onboarding for new engineers joining the team.
  • Manage team dynamics and serve as the spokesperson for the team.
  • Provide continuous, constructive feedback, guidance, and coaching to direct reports.
  • Support each direct report’s career growth and help the team grow as a group.
  • Redesign engineering delivery to use autonomous agents as the default execution layer.
  • Propose and operationalize end-to-end agentic workflows from spec to plan, execute, and verify.
  • Build reusable agentic workflows and use verification loops to ensure correct, secure, reliable, and scalable outcomes.

Requirements

  • Managed an engineering team of at least 2 people.
  • Extensive experience with backend development in Elixir/Phoenix, Ruby, or functional programming.
  • Strong engineering fundamentals and a track record of shipping secure, reliable, and scalable production systems.
  • Practical experience designing or adopting agentic or automation workflows, or comparable systems, and improving them iteratively.
  • Ability to think in systems, including defining specs, breaking down plans, instrumenting verification, and closing the quality loop.
  • Solid communication skills.
  • Solid knowledge of engineering and development principles and best practices.
  • Proven organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work with efficient processes and a kind, people-first approach.
  • Ability to inspire others, instill confidence, and understand team dynamics.
  • Ambition and intentionality around diversity, equality, and inclusion.
  • Strong automation and AI capabilities and AI fluency.
  • Commitment to promoting Remote’s values within the team and the wider organization.
