Description

  • Manage a small product team of 3-5 engineers across backend and frontend.
  • Spend about 30% of time on management and the rest actively contributing to product development.
  • Participate in hiring for the team and support peer hiring when needed.
  • Own onboarding for new engineers on the team.
  • Serve as the spokesperson for the team and manage team dynamics.
  • Give continuous, constructive feedback and coach direct reports.
  • Support the growth and career development of each direct report and the team as a whole.
  • Redesign engineering delivery to use autonomous agents as the default execution layer.
  • Propose and operationalize agentic workflows end-to-end from spec to plan, execution, and verification.
  • Build reusable agentic workflows and primitives in the codebase and use verification loops to ensure quality, security, reliability, and scalability.

Requirements

  • Managed an engineering team of at least 2 people.
  • Extensive backend experience with Elixir/Phoenix, Ruby, or functional programming.
  • Strong engineering fundamentals with a track record of shipping secure, reliable, and scalable production systems.
  • Practical experience designing or adopting agentic or automation workflows, or similar systems, and improving them iteratively.
  • Ability to think in systems, including defining specs, breaking down plans, instrumenting verification, and closing quality loops.
  • Solid communication skills.
  • Solid knowledge of engineering and development principles and best practices.
  • Proven organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to inspire others and instill confidence.
  • Good understanding of team dynamics.

  • Demonstrates strong automation and AI capabilities and AI fluency.
  • Experience with backend systems in Elixir/Phoenix, Ruby, or functional programming is required; additional relevant experience is preferred.
