Description

  • Manage a small product engineering team of 3–5 engineers (backend and frontend).
  • Spend ~30% of time on management activities and the remainder actively participating in product development with the team.
  • Participate in and support the hiring process for your team and assist peers with hiring when needed.
  • Own onboarding for new engineers and ensure smooth ramp-up into the team.
  • Act as the team’s spokesperson and manage team dynamics to bring out the best in each member.
  • Give continuous, constructive feedback and conduct career development conversations for direct reports.
  • Provide guidance, coaching, and mentorship to engineers to enable individual and team growth.
  • Drive efficient processes with a people-first approach and ensure engineering best practices are followed.

Requirements

  • Previous experience managing an engineering team of at least 2 people (typical direct reports: 2–5 engineers).
  • Extensive backend development experience with Elixir/Phoenix.
  • Strong communication skills and proven organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Solid knowledge of engineering and development principles and best practices.
  • Ability to inspire others, instill confidence, and a good understanding of team dynamics.

  • Comfortable working asynchronously and in a fully remote, globally distributed environment.
  • Familiarity or openness to using automation and AI capabilities as part of role expectations.
