Description

  • Own operations on large 3-axis mills and a vertical turning lathe, and introduce new products to these machines.
  • Improve current high-volume machining work across the 3-axis mills.
  • Collaborate with design, manufacturing, reliability, production, and vendor teams to drive progress.
  • Create work instructions, specifications, and best practices for multiple high-fidelity processes.
  • Help standardize processes across the manufacturing team.
  • Establish new machining work centers by defining tooling and process requirements for Terran R parts.
  • Support the shop floor through live issue resolution and provide upstream feedback to improve manufacturing technology.
  • Provide design for manufacturing feedback to structures teams during development, prototype builds, and flight builds.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, aeronautical, mechanical engineering, or another engineering discipline.
  • 2+ years of progressive and related experience.
  • 3D and 2D design/drafting skills per ASME Y14.5M.
  • NX experience preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interface with engineering and manufacturing groups.
  • Direct experience with CNC milling and turning operations across multiple materials.
  • Understanding of machine programming (G-code) and machine setup.
  • Strong engineering fundamentals in statics, mechanics of materials, process improvement/factory design, fastening and joining, and machining.
  • Extensive CNC milling, turning, and drilling experience across multiple materials is preferred.
  • Experience with aluminum and large parts over 6 feet is preferred.
  • Experience designing workholding for complex machining operations is preferred.
  • Experience introducing aerospace hardware into manufacturing, test, and production systems is preferred.
  • Experience managing projects in a fast-paced environment is preferred.
