Description

  • Lead day-to-day modeling team delivery, including task prioritization, sprint planning, peer reviews, and cross-functional coordination.
  • Translate mission objectives, operational challenges, and stakeholder input into modeling requirements, assumptions, and acceptance criteria.
  • Provide technical direction on modeling methods, feature engineering, data inputs, validation protocols, and performance tradeoffs.
  • Develop predictive models using aircraft maintenance records and real-time sensor telematics to forecast component failures and optimize maintenance schedules.
  • Review modeling pipelines, documentation, and analytical products for quality, consistency, and compliance with data governance standards.
  • Collaborate with data engineers, software developers, product owners, and USAF stakeholders to integrate models into scalable production pipelines.
  • Identify delivery risks, technical dependencies, and resource bottlenecks, and define mitigation plans.
  • Mentor data scientists and analysts on repeatable modeling frameworks, version control, documentation, and engineering best practices.

Requirements

  • Active DoD Secret clearance; candidates without an active clearance will not be considered.
  • 6+ years of progressive experience in data science, advanced analytics, or machine learning, including leadership of technical projects or multidisciplinary teams.
  • Experience using data products to drive operational strategy and high-impact outcomes.
  • Experience managing technical workflows in agile environments such as Scrum or Kanban.
  • Ability to communicate AI/ML methods, validation results, and technical concepts to non-technical operational leaders.
  • Working knowledge of modern data platforms, cloud architectures, and visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
  • Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Business Analytics, or a related quantitative field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience with the CDAO War Data Platform/Advana, USAF BLADE analytics enclave, or both (preferred).
  • Knowledge of DoD maintenance operations, supply chain logistics, aviation telemetry, or Condition Based Maintenance Plus (preferred).
  • Experience with full-lifecycle modeling, enterprise data governance and lineage, automated data-quality validation, or relevant certifications such as PMP, CSPO, or cloud/data architecture credentials (preferred).
