Description

  • Lead key components of Core Services, including the People Recommendations engines.
  • Design and architect scalable backend systems to support messaging, connecting, and location-based map initiatives.
  • Apply data engineering practices to optimize application performance and reliability across databases and search infrastructure.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams (UX designers, data scientists, product) to define and deliver user-focused features.
  • Own features through the full Software Development Life Cycle, incorporating agile methodologies, CI/CD, and engineering best practices.
  • Prioritize user-centric development using feedback loops and data-driven methodologies to define and refine product features.
  • Champion continuous learning and adoption of Raya's tech ecosystem to keep solutions maintainable, scalable, and innovative.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of hands-on experience in modern software development environments with a track record of delivering scalable and maintainable systems.
  • BS/MS in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Software Engineering, or a related technical field (professional experience can substitute).
  • Demonstrated expertise in system design and architecture and mastery in at least one programming language (examples given: Node.js, JavaScript, Go, TypeScript).
  • Production experience building and scaling backend systems, ideally in a startup or fast-moving environment.
  • Production experience with search applications such as OpenSearch, vector databases, or Elasticsearch.
  • Hands-on knowledge of agentic GenAI systems (e.g., orchestrating multi-step LLM pipelines, tool use, or retrieval-augmented workflows).
  • Practical experience experimenting with or shipping projects that leverage LLMs and enthusiasm for AI tools.
  • Understanding of prompt engineering, fine-tuning, or model integration in production contexts and curiosity about new AI frameworks.
  • Strong collaborative instincts with emphasis on open communication, transparency, and cross-team interaction.
