Description

  • Build products, platforms, and services that create valuable learning experiences.
  • Deliver high-quality working software collaboratively with measurable impact.
  • Write elegant, secure code using a test-driven approach.
  • Work with Software Engineers and Engineering Managers to improve processes and code quality.
  • Plan product development through technical analysis and evaluation of architectural needs.
  • Create educational experiences for young people and educators across products such as the projects site, Code Club platform, Astro Pi, and Coolest Projects.

Requirements

  • Demonstrable experience as a professional Software Engineer with a focus on web technologies, or experience transitioning into software engineering through a degree, bootcamp, or similar.
  • Experience with a high-level language such as Ruby, JavaScript, or Python.
  • Experience with a database system such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, or MongoDB.
  • A proactive, pragmatic, and supportive attitude with openness to giving and receiving constructive feedback.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and a collaborative approach to cross-disciplinary work.
  • A product mindset and ability to see the bigger picture.
  • Interest in education, especially computer science, physical computing, and digital making.
  • Knowledge of infrastructure platforms such as Heroku, Cloudflare, and AWS (preferred).
  • Must be eligible to work in the UK.

Benefits

  • Salary of £43,000 to £48,000 full-time equivalent, dependent on experience.
  • UK remote working with regular travel to Cambridge.
