Description

  • Own the conceptual, logical, and physical data models for the enterprise analytical and operational data platform.
  • Design and maintain the enterprise meta-model, including entities, relationships, business definitions, ownership, lineage, sensitivity classifications, and SLAs.
  • Architect medallion lakehouse patterns on Databricks and define standards for partitioning, clustering, schema evolution, SCDs, and historical reproducibility.
  • Write PySpark, SQL, and Delta Lake code, including reference implementations and prototypes.
  • Lead data integration design for ingestion through Informatica Data Management Cloud (IDMC) and direct Databricks pipelines.
  • Design patterns for CDC, batch, streaming, and API-based sourcing from SaaS products and third-party systems.
  • Operationalize data governance, lineage, classification, masking, and access controls with security, compliance, and governance partners.
  • Establish data modeling standards, naming conventions, and review processes for the Data Engineering team.
  • Coach engineers on dimensional modeling, Data Vault, and other modeling techniques.
  • Partner with Product, Engineering, Analytics, ML, Finance, Risk, and customer-facing teams to translate business needs into durable data designs.
  • Identify tooling, capability, and skill gaps and drive multi-quarter data initiatives to improve how the business uses data.

Requirements

  • 12–15+ years of progressive experience in data engineering, data warehousing, and data architecture, with recent experience at the architect level.
  • Experience as a Data Architect at a SaaS company in FinTech or financial services software.
  • Deep hands-on expertise with Databricks and PySpark on Azure, including Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, structured streaming, and performance tuning at scale.
  • Production experience with Informatica Data Management Cloud (IDMC) or a comparable enterprise integration platform.
  • Proven experience designing and implementing conceptual, logical, and physical data models and meta-models that have reached production.
  • Strong command of dimensional modeling (Kimball), Data Vault 2.0, and modern lakehouse patterns.
  • Expert SQL skills and strong proficiency in Python/PySpark.
  • Experience implementing data governance, lineage, and metadata management programs using tools such as Unity Catalog, IDMC Data Governance, Collibra, or Atlan.
  • Working knowledge of FinTech regulatory and compliance considerations such as GLBA, SOC 2, PCI, NIST, and state lending regulations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for explaining complex data concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Preferred: prior experience designing data architectures for multi-tenant SaaS platforms with customer-facing analytics or embedded reporting.
  • Preferred: experience with loan origination, deposit account opening, or consumer lending data domains such as applicants, applications, decisions, funding, servicing, credit data, fraud, and KYC/AML.
  • Preferred: experience building feature stores or curated data products for both ML/AI and BI use cases.
  • Preferred: familiarity with Azure data services such as ADLS Gen2, Azure Data Factory, Event Hubs, Synapse, and Purview.
  • Preferred: experience with dbt, Great Expectations, or similar data quality and transformation tooling layered on Databricks.
  • Preferred: bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
