Description

  • Manage day-to-day trust accounting processes for property management companies with trust accounts.
  • Handle communication inbox management and send weekly update emails to clients.
  • Evaluate and implement routine client communication needs and escalate client dissatisfaction or higher-level issues to the account executive.
  • Process accounting requests including vendor credits, fund transfers, receipts, deposits, tenant charges, tenant deposits, tenant credits, owner adjustments, ownership changes, cancellations, HAP payments, late fees, eviction notices, NSF processing, and security deposits.
  • Support AppFolio workflows, including standard processes and client-specific constraints or policies.
  • Manage accounts payable tasks such as bill approval, management fee posting, vendor payments, check files, and stop-payment requests.
  • Review owner statements, send owner statements, and process owner disbursements.
  • Support banking activities including deposit follow-up, bank reconciliation troubleshooting, bank transfers, corrective journal entries, and review of checks older than 90 days.
  • Assist with negative and positive FDR review, 1099s, ad hoc reporting, and other account executive-assigned projects.
  • Review management fees for new move-ins, fee settings on vacant properties, and recurring journal entries or recurring bills.

Requirements

  • Background in accounting or a proven understanding of basic accounting principles.
  • Hands-on experience with AppFolio is required.
  • Rentvine experience is strongly preferred.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets.
  • Strong written communication skills.
  • Good verbal communication skills for client interactions and internal collaboration.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to review accounting work carefully.
  • Ability to learn new concepts with written and hands-on support.
  • Reliable internet connection and webcam for a work-from-home role.
  • Ability to work set hours overlapping with Mountain, Central, or Eastern Standard Time.
