Description

  • Direct, manage, and coordinate Project Directors and Project Managers across global projects and portfolios.
  • Provide leadership and oversight for clinical programs, including direct management of activities in select cases.
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for study sponsors beyond project management.
  • Optimize the profitability of the project management organization and help meet or exceed budget targets.
  • Assess and manage resource allocation to achieve cost, time, and quality goals.
  • Select, train, develop, coach, and evaluate project leadership talent, including annual performance reviews.
  • Provide technical guidance on scope definition, risk identification, escalation, mitigation, resource planning, and deliverables.
  • Identify and escalate impacts to project scope, resources, schedule, or budget through standard processes.
  • Ensure compliance with SOPs, working guidelines, project plans, and regulatory requirements.
  • Partner with Business Development on opportunity development, proposals, budgeting, and bid defense preparation.
  • Manage project and program interdependencies to achieve milestones and deliverables.
  • Evaluate projects and implement corrective actions, including recovery, re-scoping, postponement, or cancellation of at-risk work.
  • Measure and report KPIs and lead continuous improvement efforts.
  • Manage workload for supervised staff and provide ongoing feedback and coaching.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education/experience in a science or health-related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • At least 10 years of experience in clinical research, including extensive project management and line management experience.
  • Working knowledge of GCP/ICH guidelines and the clinical development process.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Microsoft Project.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for team-based collaboration.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a customer service-oriented demeanor.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally, including overnight stays.
  • Experience managing complex, global trials (preferred).
  • Working knowledge of project management techniques and tools.
  • Direct experience in a global, cross-functional project management environment.
  • Proven people management, strategic planning, risk management, and change management experience.
  • Strong analytical skills, business acumen, and executive presence.
  • Proficient in project management software.
  • In-depth experience in pharmaceutical and/or device research required.
  • Experience with Rheumatology and Oncology preferred.
