Description

  • Lead the Tech Art discipline and define the team’s goals while contributing directly as an individual contributor in the early stages of the project.
  • Build and manage the Technical Art team, including mentoring internal Tech Artists and overseeing external Tech Art work.
  • Partner with the Art Director to develop innovative ways to translate the team’s artistic vision to the screen.
  • Ensure the game’s visual aspects remain performant across PC and console platforms.
  • Collaborate with project leadership to define and oversee the Technical Art roadmap with technical artists, animators, and designers.
  • Create custom tools to improve the game’s visual fidelity and performance.
  • Develop and refine workflows and pipelines that improve production efficiency and team collaboration.
  • Introduce new features to the art team through examples, presentations, and documentation.
  • Communicate proactively with stakeholders to align on objectives and address issues early.

Requirements

  • Experience in rigging workflow and pipeline creation.
  • Production experience with Maya, Substance Painter, and Photoshop, along with professional experience using Python.
  • Ability to independently translate art team goals into creative solutions while balancing cost, efficiency, and quality tradeoffs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Experience producing clear, concise, and accurate technical documentation and simplifying complex topics.
  • Experience managing and resolving stability, performance, and memory issues across different platforms.
  • Experience with Unreal Engine.
  • Experience managing external resources effectively.
  • Experience shipping games across multiple platforms, including PC and console.
  • Ability to creatively solve problems during R&D or incubation environments, preferred.
  • Experience creating unique custom shaders and effects that are efficient and scalable, preferred.
  • Experience creating and hooking up gameplay VFX assets, preferred.
  • Experience creating or managing modular environment systems, preferred.

  • Base pay range of $143,000 to $215,000 USD for Seattle-based candidates, with pay varying by geographic location and hybrid work policy.
