Description

  • Develop and implement governance standards, policies, charters, and best practices across PPFA and PPAF.
  • Strengthen membership and board effectiveness through governance training, capacity building, and learning opportunities.
  • Create and facilitate annual committee work plans and monthly meeting agendas aligned with organizational priorities.
  • Oversee governance operations, including technology platforms, records, archives, board actions, and compliance documentation.
  • Monitor national board and committee work plans to ensure alignment with compliance, regulatory, and bylaws requirements.
  • Advise executive and volunteer leadership on governance risks, challenges, opportunities, and decision-making.
  • Partner with board leaders, affiliate CEOs, and volunteer leadership to improve governance alignment and engagement.
  • Operationalize membership and board governance policies in accordance with governing documents and best industry practices.
  • Provide supervisory oversight to the Director of National Board Committees, Director of Governance Administration, and Manager, OOP Governance.

Requirements

  • 10-12 years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience designing and implementing governance policies, charters, and committee frameworks.
  • Experience strategically planning committee work and aligning it with organizational priorities.
  • Experience with risk management and compliance oversight in governance functions.
  • Ability to lead and support a governance team in executing organizational vision.
  • Strong relationship-building skills with board chairs, committee leaders, executive staff, and volunteer leaders.
  • Ability to influence without direct authority and manage complex stakeholder dynamics.
  • Strong discretion, confidentiality, and judgment in handling sensitive governance matters.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills for board materials, proposals, and presentations.
  • Strong project and program management skills for multiple committees with overlapping priorities.
  • Comfort working with a multicultural workforce and sensitivity to differences in background, culture, and experience.

Benefits

  • $170,000 - $180,000 annual salary.
  • Remote, telecommuter work arrangement.
  • Quarterly travel required, not to exceed 50%.
