Description

  • Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals, reclasses, and other adjustments with complete supporting documentation.
  • Own assigned areas of the monthly and year-end close process and ensure deadlines are met.
  • Review general ledger activity to identify discrepancies, unusual activity, and inconsistencies.
  • Prepare and validate monthly and annual financial reporting packages.
  • Maintain monthly balance sheet reconciliations that tie to supporting documentation and resolve reconciling items.
  • Maintain audit-ready workpapers and support annual audits and Form 990 preparation.
  • Respond to auditor requests and support implementation of audit adjustments and year-end closeout activities.
  • Serve as a technical accounting resource on GAAP-related questions and nonprofit accounting concepts.
  • Support accounting for grants, contributions, restricted funds, and new programs or entities.
  • Identify and help improve close and reconciliation processes across entities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited college or university, plus 2–4 years of accounting and/or financial reporting experience, or 4 years of related experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Experience preparing journal entries, reconciling balance sheet accounts, supporting close processes, and performing variance analysis.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, and data analysis.
  • Proven ability to manage deadlines and produce accurate, well-supported work with minimal oversight.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • CPA or CPA candidate preferred.
  • Nonprofit accounting and/or healthcare nonprofit experience preferred.
  • Experience in a multi-entity environment preferred.
  • Experience with MIP Fund Accounting preferred.
