Description

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the preconstruction team and set expectations for ownership, communication, escalation, documentation, and stakeholder responsiveness.
  • Own a portfolio of concurrent preconstruction projects across multiple geographies, technologies, contractors, and financing or customer requirements.
  • Maintain portfolio controls, reporting standards, prioritization, and issue escalation processes that create predictable preconstruction execution.
  • Resolve cross-functional blockers and align Development, Engineering, Procurement, Legal, Finance, Compliance, Project Management, and Construction Management.
  • Serve as a senior point of contact for internal leaders, contractor partners, consultants, vendors, and other stakeholders during preconstruction.
  • Oversee commercial contracting, including EPC negotiations, subcontracting strategy, scope allocation, and contract-exhibit completeness.
  • Maintain bid package quality, estimate completeness, constructability review, design-basis clarity, QA/QC practices, and execution readiness.
  • Support project cost intelligence, budget development, contingency strategy, cost controls, and value engineering efforts.
  • Manage schedule standards and drive alignment across development, permitting, procurement, interconnection, engineering, and construction readiness.
  • Ensure compliance, risk management, and document control practices are built into preconstruction workflows and handoff packages.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in renewable energy preconstruction, estimating, commercial management, project delivery, construction management, project controls, EPC management, or related infrastructure leadership roles.
  • 3+ years of people leadership experience managing multidisciplinary teams, project teams, or functional workstreams.
  • Experience with EPC contracting, procurement strategy, budgeting, estimating, Basis of Estimate documentation, schedule management, and project execution planning.
  • Advanced understanding of solar PV and/or BESS project delivery, including development-to-delivery handoff, permitting, engineering, procurement, construction readiness, and execution transition.
  • Strong leadership, communication, commercial, analytical, financial, and decision-making skills.
  • Experience supporting operational processes, governance frameworks, scalable delivery standards, reporting routines, and cross-functional operating discipline.
  • Strong analytical, commercial, and financial management capabilities.
  • Ability to lead in high-growth, fast-paced environments with competing priorities, imperfect information, and changing business requirements.
  • Preferred: 5+ years of experience in solar and/or BESS preconstruction, estimating, commercial management, design coordination, project management, or construction management.
  • Preferred: Experience with Procore, MS Project, ERP systems, estimating platforms, BI/reporting tools, and project controls systems.
  • Preferred: Understanding of compliance drivers such as prevailing wage/apprenticeship, domestic content, safety, and quality.
  • Preferred: MBA, engineering degree, construction management degree, or related advanced professional credentials.
