Description

  • Define the long-term technical vision for configuration ecosystems, including feature flags, ML settings, and experiments.
  • Establish operational safety through standardized validation, staged rollout mechanisms, and governance frameworks.
  • Lead migration of mission-critical use cases from legacy systems to modern platforms.
  • Create scalable onboarding patterns for engineering teams adopting the configuration lifecycle.
  • Architect control plane interfaces and diagnostic surfaces for managing complex production states.
  • Build high-performance, read-optimized APIs for human operators and automated assistants.
  • Integrate coordination systems with deployment and multi-region infrastructure.
  • Refine service discovery and substrate architecture to support regional expansion and reduce toil.
  • Use AI-assisted workflows to synthesize partner requirements into executable technical roadmaps.
  • Ensure rigorous data validation, peer review, and metric-driven verification of technical decisions.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in high-scale infrastructure and distributed systems.
  • Experience architecting or managing business-critical backend systems in production.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional technical strategy for control-plane systems such as experiments, feature flags, or ML configuration.
  • Advanced knowledge of distributed coordination and substrate design, including consistency models and failure domains.
  • Experience aligning configuration surfaces with deployment pipelines and orchestration frameworks such as IaC or CI/CD.
  • Track record of mentoring senior engineers and managing multiple parallel workstreams.
  • Ability to use AI-enabled workflows for design synthesis, analysis, or documentation while maintaining accountability through validation and review.
  • Extreme ownership and professional integrity, with a focus on safeguarding data and maintaining human oversight of automated outputs.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

  • Base salary range of $208,592 to $429,454 USD for US-based applicants.
  • Eligible for equity.
  • Remote-friendly location arrangement with the role able to be situated anywhere in the country.
  • Only requires in-office collaboration 1-2 times every 6 months.
