Description

  • Own end-to-end operational support and incident management for cloud data platforms across multiple client environments.
  • Monitor and support production data jobs and ETL/ELT pipelines, resolving failures quickly and minimizing business impact.
  • Perform deep root-cause analysis on incidents and implement preventative measures across customer workflows.
  • Translate business and data requirements into resilient, cost-effective operational solutions.
  • Collaborate with data engineering, analytics, architecture, and client stakeholders to deliver successful engagements.
  • Provide technical leadership in incident bridges, troubleshooting sessions, and design or runbook reviews.
  • Create and maintain documentation, knowledge articles, runbooks, and governance/change-management artifacts.
  • Build and improve operational playbooks, automation scripts, monitoring standards, and training materials.
  • Mentor peers and junior engineers through knowledge sharing, coaching, and up-skilling support.
  • Advise senior client stakeholders on reliability, performance optimization, and operational strategy.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience in DevOps, cloud data platform operations, and/or production support for data and analytics workloads.
  • Working knowledge of SQL, including the ability to write, debug, and optimize queries.
  • Experience supporting cloud-native data warehouses such as Snowflake and/or Amazon Redshift at scale.
  • Hands-on experience with relational database systems such as Oracle or Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Experience in production support for scheduled data jobs and ETL/ELT pipelines.
  • Working knowledge of Unix/Linux environments and common system administration concepts.
  • Basic proficiency in Python for scripting and automation.
  • Experience with AWS and/or Azure services such as S3, ADLS, and Azure Data Factory.
  • Familiarity with ITIL processes and SLA-driven support environments.
  • Strong troubleshooting, performance tuning, incident/problem management, and client communication skills.
  • Active daily use of AI coding tools such as Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Claude, or ChatGPT, with good judgment in verifying outputs.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as GitHub or Bitbucket and exposure to Terraform.
  • Experience delivering work in a consulting or professional services environment (preferred).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (preferred).
  • Production support experience or certifications with Snowflake, AWS, Azure, or Databricks (preferred).
  • Experience with data tools such as Spark, Kafka, Matillion, Fivetran, dbt, AWS DMS, or Azure Data Factory (preferred).
  • Experience with orchestration tools such as Apache Airflow or AWS Managed Airflow (preferred).
  • Experience with automated database deployment frameworks such as Flyway or Liquibase (preferred).
  • Experience supporting multiple clients in a managed services or Elastic Operations environment (preferred).
  • Ability to work in distributed teams and across Eastern/Central time zones, with occasional schedule flexibility.
