Description

  • Manage the day-to-day activities of one or more software development teams, including goal setting, mentorship, coaching, leadership, guidance, performance management, and feedback.
  • Collaborate with the Product Manager to build the roadmap, define requirements, and ensure the team executes against plans.
  • Ensure development deliverables are documented and key decisions are recorded in line with the design and development process.
  • Help with hiring initiatives across the engineering department.
  • Identify process problems and contribute to the continual improvement of design, development processes, and system architecture.
  • Ensure development follows the established development process throughout the full development lifecycle.
  • Establish KPIs and SLAs and monitor team and system performance.
  • Collaborate with the team to meet performance, scalability, and reliability goals.
  • Stay current on trends, techniques, and technologies that may impact the role and apply them as needed.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years in a leadership or management role and at least 10 years of software development experience.
  • Experience leading teams of 10 engineers or more.
  • Demonstrated time management, project management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated collaborative work style and ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to manage overlapping projects and meet strict deadlines.
  • High level of critical and logical thinking, analysis, and reasoning.
  • Passion for clean code architecture and software craftsmanship.
  • Experience with Kafka, distributed systems, and real-time streaming processing.
  • Experience with container orchestration platforms such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Nice to have: PHP, Next.js, Python, AWS/Lambda, Elixir, GraphQL APIs (Absinthe), GraphQL schema stitching and subscriptions, GCP, public speaking, and contribution to open source software.
