Description

  • Process bi-weekly, semi-monthly, and monthly payrolls for organizations with 50–500 employees.
  • Validate employee time entries, overtime, bonuses, commissions, and deductions before payroll runs.
  • Administer payroll in systems such as ADP, Paychex, Gusto, QuickBooks Payroll, or BambooHR.
  • Record payroll journal entries and reconcile payroll clearing accounts and payroll-related bank transactions.
  • Prepare and submit federal, state, and local payroll tax payments and file required payroll tax forms.
  • Reconcile healthcare, retirement, and other employee benefit contributions and related deductions.
  • Respond to employee payroll questions and support new hire payroll setup and employee updates.
  • Prepare payroll, headcount, labor cost, and variance reports for finance and HR leadership.
  • Support audits with organized payroll documentation and maintain audit-ready compliance.
  • Improve payroll workflows, documentation, and SOPs using automation, integrations, or APIs.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of payroll processing experience.
  • Hands-on experience with at least one payroll platform such as ADP, Paychex, QuickBooks Payroll, Gusto, or BambooHR.
  • Experience supporting payroll accounting and reconciliations.
  • Working knowledge of U.S. payroll tax regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets skills, including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP.
  • Strong understanding of payroll accounting principles.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • High attention to detail and ability to handle confidential information professionally.
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) is preferred.
  • Multi-state or international payroll experience is preferred.
  • Experience with HRIS integrations such as BambooHR, Zenefits, or Workday is preferred.
  • Experience supporting audits and compliance reviews is preferred.
