Description

  • Design conceptual and logical data models, including entities, attributes, relationships, and definitions.
  • Express data structures clearly in UML or entity-relationship diagrams.
  • Review existing data models and standards to decide what to reuse, adapt, or avoid.
  • Build data dictionaries, glossaries, controlled vocabularies, and code lists with rigorous definitions.
  • Work with subject matter experts to convert domain knowledge into structured models.
  • Produce clear documentation and guidance to support adoption and implementation of the model.
  • Present design decisions and outputs to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Own the work end to end from requirements capture through validated deliverables.

Requirements

  • Experience designing conceptual or logical data models in a complex domain such as enterprise, government, health, finance, or engineering.
  • Ability to produce UML class diagrams or entity-relationship diagrams in a mainstream tool such as Visio, Enterprise Architect, Lucidchart, or draw.io.
  • Strong written English, with deliverables focused on documents and diagrams rather than code.
  • Experience mapping or aligning one data model or standard to another (preferred).
  • Exposure to data standards or interoperability work such as NIEM, HL7/FHIR, ISO standards, or government data specifications (preferred).
  • Familiarity with NATO or defence data models such as MIM, JC3IEDM, or STANAG series is a bonus.
  • Exposure to ontologies, taxonomies, or semantic technologies such as RDF/OWL or SKOS (preferred).
  • Background in enterprise or data architecture, such as TOGAF or similar (preferred).
  • Experience in defence, national security, or other regulated environments (preferred).
  • An active SC or DV clearance is desirable, and candidates eligible for clearance are welcome.
