Description

  • Own and maintain Oura’s global revenue recognition policy framework under ASC 606, including policy memos, position papers, and internal guidance.
  • Develop and update accounting policies for new products, pricing models (including subscription and B2B constructs), sales motions, and go‑to‑market strategies.
  • Lead the end‑to‑end revenue contract review process for strategic, non‑standard, or complex deals and determine revenue recognition implications under ASC 606.
  • Analyze contract terms (performance obligations, variable consideration, discounts, usage/volume features, options, renewals, termination, SLAs) and document technical conclusions.
  • Draft high‑quality technical accounting memos that document fact patterns, technical analysis, conclusions, and alternatives considered.
  • Build and maintain standardized templates, checklists, and playbooks for contract intake, review, and memo documentation to drive consistency and scalability.
  • Own SKU governance for revenue‑impacting SKUs, including design, approval, lifecycle management, and mapping to performance obligations and accounting treatment in ERP and connected systems.
  • Partner closely with Sales, Legal, Deal Desk, FP&A, RevOps, Finance Systems, and IT/Engineering to influence contract terms, ensure accurate SKU configuration and billing logic, and support compliant data flows.
  • Design and strengthen controls and processes around SKU creation, changes, and deprecation to ensure audit‑ready documentation.
  • Lead monthly reviews with the Accounting leadership team on key contracts, policy updates, and emerging risks; provide training and enablement for Accounting and cross‑functional teams; and identify process improvements and automation opportunities.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience with significant focus on revenue recognition under ASC 606 (combination of Big 4 or national public accounting experience strongly preferred).
  • Deep, hands‑on expertise with ASC 606 (identifying performance obligations, variable consideration, contract modifications, principal vs. agent, standalone selling price, etc.).
  • Experience in technology, consumer, and/or subscription/recurring revenue businesses.
  • Proven track record owning revenue policies and leading complex contract reviews and technical documentation.
  • Demonstrated ability to build scalable tools—checklists, templates, standard memo formats, and playbooks.
  • Exceptional technical writing skills with the ability to draft concise, well‑structured memos and policy documents.
  • Strong comfort and genuine interest in reading, interpreting, and dissecting contracts, including non‑standard and cross‑border arrangements.
  • Excellent cross‑functional collaboration and communication skills and high attention to detail with a bias toward building scalable, repeatable processes and controls.
  • Preferred: CPA (or equivalent) strongly preferred; familiarity with NetSuite or similar ERP and working with RevOps/systems on SKU and revenue configuration; direct experience supporting quarterly and annual audits on complex revenue topics; prior people leadership experience within a revenue accounting or technical accounting function.
  • Role is remote within the United States and may require occasional travel for team or cross‑functional meetings.

Benefits

  • Company commitment to creating an inclusive, equal‑opportunity workplace.
  • Reasonable accommodation provided for individuals with disabilities during interview process and employment.
  • Supportive environment focused on enabling team members to do their best work both in and out of the office.
  • Occasional travel may be required for team or cross‑functional meetings.
