Description

  • Lead and grow a multidisciplinary team of AI engineers and scientists working on LLMs, applied ML, evaluation, and behavior or health modeling.
  • Balance people leadership and delivery with selective hands-on contributions such as technical design reviews, prototyping, debugging, and experiment work.
  • Own planning, scoping, and execution for critical Health Intelligence initiatives including Advisor, Adaptive Insights, notifications, and related AI features.
  • Partner with product, data, and science leadership to define problems, align on success metrics, and establish evaluation strategies.
  • Provide technical leadership and guardrails by guiding trade-offs across complexity, cost, latency, and long-term maintainability.
  • Shape how AI systems are evaluated, monitored, and operated in production, including incident response and continuous improvement.
  • Foster a healthy, sustainable team culture with clear priorities, psychological safety, and a growth mindset.
  • Support cross-functional coordination so the team can deliver predictable outcomes and measurable behavior change for members.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience as a backend engineer or data scientist shipping production systems used by real users.
  • 1–3 years of experience as a tech lead or de-facto lead coordinating work and mentoring others.
  • Strong interest in moving into formal people management while continuing some hands-on technical work.
  • Practical exposure to ML or LLM-powered systems and comfort working closely with scientists and ML engineers.
  • Demonstrated ability to own cross-functional projects end to end from problem framing through rollout and iteration.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain trade-offs clearly to engineers, scientists, and product partners.
  • Comfort operating in a fast-changing AI and LLM landscape while keeping member safety and value central.
  • Preferred: Experience managing or informally leading multidisciplinary teams of engineers and scientists.
  • Preferred: Background in AI or LLM-backed products, including evaluation and guardrails.
  • Preferred: Experience in digital health, wearables, or behavior-change products.
  • Preferred: Experience integrating ML models into production systems, including deployment and monitoring.
  • Preferred: Experience working on distributed teams across countries and time zones with asynchronous communication.
