Description

  • Act as the first point of contact with regulators to manage the impact of new regulations, reporting obligations, and prudential guidelines.
  • Drive and support horizon scanning and early-warning monitoring for upcoming regulatory changes in the regional portfolio.
  • Support the Head of Regulatory Affairs & Compliance and Regulatory Compliance Managers on regional compliance strategy and activities.
  • Monitor company compliance with applicable laws, regulations, reporting obligations, and prudential guidelines.
  • Support structured assessments of regulatory compliance requirements to evaluate regulatory risk exposure, significance, and scope.
  • Help implement a regulatory compliance governance framework, including employee training and awareness activities.
  • Develop marketing materials, training programs, and internal presentations aligned with regulatory compliance guidelines.
  • Gather internal information and prepare responses to regulatory compliance queries and reporting obligations.
  • Support timely responses to partner, financial institution, and third-party queries related to legal and contractual compliance obligations.
  • Partner with local commercial teams to facilitate go-to-market activities and respond to customer regulatory queries.
  • Coordinate with internal assurance providers, including Internal Audit, as part of the company’s combined assurance arrangements.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline.
  • 4-6 years of experience in a fintech environment, preferably in the microfinance industry.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of regulatory and oversight bodies in Kenya, Uganda, Ethiopia, Somalia, South Sudan, and Tanzania.
  • Knowledge of project management methods and practices, including creating designs, plans, specifications, estimates, reports, tests, and recommendations.
  • Strong creative, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Solid communication, persuasion, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to analyze complex issues and systems, evaluate alternatives, and recommend a course of action.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative without direct supervision within established procedures and policies.
  • Passion and commitment to financial inclusion.
