Description

  • Lead U.S. and international data privacy and consumer protection compliance initiatives, including oversight of privacy policies and governance programs.
  • Assess legal, regulatory, and operational risks related to AI-enabled products and services, including data governance, confidentiality, IP ownership, and emerging AI frameworks.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to analyze legal issues and provide practical guidance for business initiatives.
  • Support compliance efforts related to EU and member-state privacy, cybersecurity, and data protection requirements.
  • Identify and implement AI tools for legal drafting, contract review, regulatory compliance, and workflow automation.
  • Help develop and maintain responsible AI use guidelines for the legal department.
  • Review, draft, negotiate, and advise on complex commercial agreements and other corporate matters.
  • Translate complex and evolving legal requirements into clear, actionable business guidance.
  • Develop effective compliance programs and policies for regulated areas as needed.

Requirements

  • JD degree required.
  • Active California Bar membership required.
  • 5+ years of legal experience required, including in-house experience.
  • At least 3 years of experience at a major law firm required.
  • Strong knowledge of international, federal, and state privacy laws, including GDPR, CPRA, COPPA, and PIPEDA.
  • Experience analyzing regulatory frameworks administered by the FCC, FTC, and HIPAA.
  • Experience supporting businesses operating in regulated industries is strongly preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including drafting, negotiation, and stakeholder management.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills with sound judgment in ambiguous or incomplete situations.
  • Highly organized, self-motivated, and able to manage multiple priorities independently in a fast-paced environment.
