Description

  • Own the catalogue intelligence system that turns catalogue rules and commercial logic into automated, data-driven decisioning.
  • Design and deploy production-grade ML systems that improve product categorisation, data quality, pricing competitiveness, coverage, selection, and discoverability.
  • Improve how products are classified and understood at scale across structured, unstructured, and behavioural data.
  • Define and raise the standard for what high-quality catalogue data looks like.
  • Identify gaps in the catalogue and surface opportunities for growth.
  • Improve how catalogue content performs across external channels.
  • Build and evolve decision logic using SQL, Python, rules, heuristics, ML, and LLM-based approaches where appropriate.
  • Develop systems that operate in production and directly influence live catalogue outcomes.
  • Work closely with engineering, product, analytics, and the Head of Seller Solutions to implement catalogue logic.
  • Validate solutions with real-world data, monitor performance, and iterate quickly based on results.

Requirements

  • Experience building and shipping production data or ML systems with measurable business impact.
  • Strong Python and SQL skills with end-to-end data pipeline experience.
  • Experience applying modern approaches such as LLMs, multimodal models, and information extraction techniques into production.
  • Experience working with messy, unstructured, or semi-structured data such as text, images, or product data.
  • Ability to design systems that make decisions, not just predictions.
  • Strong judgement in balancing accuracy, risk, and business impact.
  • Comfort working in environments where data is incomplete, inconsistent, and constantly evolving.
  • Experience with ecommerce or marketplace catalogues is a plus, but not required.
  • Experience working with cloud-based data systems in GCP is beneficial.
  • Experience with orchestration tools such as Airflow, CI/CD, and model deployment practices is beneficial.
