Description

  • Partner with the sales team as the technical and domain expert in customer-facing sales engagements.
  • Understand customer challenges and business issues, then deliver product demonstrations aligned to their needs.
  • Answer product, feature, and technical questions from customers, partners, and internal colleagues.
  • Plan and deliver proof-of-concepts for complex customer use cases, coordinating with other engineering teams as needed.
  • Provide feedback to product management on enhancements that would better address customer needs.
  • Share best practices and reusable assets with other Solutions Engineers to improve team quality and efficiency.
  • Stay current on competitive analysis and market differentiation.
  • Support marketing events such as executive briefings, conferences, user groups, and trade shows.
  • Learn and act as a subject matter expert on specific product solutions and competitive knowledge when needed.
  • Develop, position, and demonstrate product-specific solutions during sales cycles while supporting quarterly and annual territory goals.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of pre-sales engineering experience and solution selling experience.
  • Experience in a customer-facing role such as pre-sales or professional services, preferably in a pre-sales capacity.
  • Ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly and quickly, including in whiteboard discussions.
  • Experience deploying applications on cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, GCP, or Vercel.
  • Experience with at least one standard network security protocol such as OAuth, OAuth2, SAML, or LDAP.
  • Experience working with REST APIs and SDKs.
  • Hands-on experience in web development, backend development, or scripting languages such as JavaScript, HTML, Java, C#, Node.js, Python, Bash, PowerShell, or Perl.
  • Understanding of core application security concerns such as password hashing, SSL/TLS, encryption at rest, XSS, and XSRF.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills for both one-on-one discussions and large expert audiences.
  • Territory management experience, including pipeline building and working with sales counterparts.
  • Diagramming experience for user journeys and complex architecture diagrams.
  • Typically 25% travel.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, MIS, or a comparable field is preferred.
  • Experience designing, implementing, and managing Privileged Access Management (PAM) solutions in enterprise environments is preferred.
  • Deep understanding of privileged account security best practices, including just-in-time access, session recording, credential vaulting, and secrets management.
  • Experience managing Windows Server, Active Directory, LDAP, and federation services.
  • Proficiency in UNIX/Linux, database security, network security, scripting, and DevOps practices is preferred.
  • Relevant experience with enterprise applications, security management, systems management, identity management, or policy management solutions, especially in identity and privileged access.

Benefits

  • Annual on-target earnings range of $215,000-$323,000 USD for candidates in the San Francisco Bay Area.
  • Annual on-target earnings range of $192,000-$288,000 USD for candidates in California outside the Bay Area, Colorado, Illinois, New York, and Washington.
