Description

  • Manage the quarterly and annual tax provision process, including ASC 740 calculations, supporting schedules, and coordination with external consultants.
  • Calculate and analyze current and deferred taxes, valuation allowances, uncertain tax positions, effective tax rate variances, and tax footnote disclosures.
  • Maintain accurate tax-related general ledger accounts and oversee tax accounting controls and documentation.
  • Identify, research, and conclude on the tax treatment of significant or non-routine transactions with Accounting, Finance, and Legal.
  • Support external auditors by responding to technical inquiries and providing documentation.
  • Oversee the full income tax compliance lifecycle for U.S. federal, state, and international returns prepared by third-party providers.
  • Review tax returns for technical accuracy, completeness, and consistency with tax provision calculations and supporting documentation.
  • Manage fixed asset tax processes, including additions, disposals, depreciation calculations, and roll-forwards.
  • Track filing deadlines, manage tax audits and inquiries, and serve as the primary contact with tax authorities and external advisors.
  • Improve tax processes through standardization, automation, technology enhancements, documentation, and cross-functional partnership.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
  • CPA required; MBA or MST preferred.
  • 7-10+ years of progressive experience in public accounting and/or corporate tax, including federal and state income tax for C corporations.
  • 3+ years of team management experience.
  • Deep technical knowledge of ASC 740 and U.S. federal and corporate tax laws.
  • Experience with tax provision software such as OneSource or Corptax and ERP systems such as NetSuite, SAP, or Oracle.
  • Strong understanding of tax data inputs/outputs and dependencies across ERP/GL, subledgers, consolidation, and reporting.
  • Knowledge of SOX and control environments, including how to design auditable processes.
  • Experience with tax technology and transformation is strongly preferred.
  • Fast-growth startup, public company, energy sector, or tech company experience is a plus.
  • Experience implementing AI in tax operations and automation is a plus.
  • Willingness to relocate if required and travel as needed, likely 1 week per month.
