Description

  • Develop and conduct high-fidelity CFD analyses of thermal-hydraulic behavior across the reactor core, reactor vessel, heat exchangers, power conversion, and balance-of-plant systems.
  • Design, model, and analyze thermal-hydraulic systems to support reactor and associated system development.
  • Develop and use analysis methods that build confidence in design decisions efficiently and effectively.
  • Perform engineering analyses covering thermal, fluid, safety, manufacturability, and cost considerations.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to define design requirements and provide technical feedback to rapidly iterating design teams.
  • Document analyses using modern tools and techniques and produce clear, thoughtful technical reports.
  • Work closely with design teams to support iterative design improvements and technical decision-making.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in a technical field such as nuclear, mechanical, or aerospace engineering.
  • Proficiency with STAR-CCM+, ANSYS Fluent, OpenFOAM, Nek-5000, or equivalent CFD tools.
  • Core competency in heat transfer, fluid dynamics, and thermodynamics from first principles.
  • Experience with data processing, including pre-processing, post-processing, and scripting.
  • Experience with thermal-hydraulic engineering principles and multi-physics analysis methods for engineering applications, particularly power systems (bonus).
  • Experience with nuclear engineering principles and multi-physics analysis methods, particularly advanced reactors (bonus).
  • Experience analyzing heat exchangers, turbomachinery, and fluid control systems (bonus).
  • Competency with modern software engineering practices and programming languages (bonus).
  • Fluency with Python (bonus).
  • Experience with reactor transient analysis methods or systems/reactor safety codes such as GOTHIC, RELAP, TRACE, SAM, or SAS4A/SASSYS-1 (bonus).
