Description

  • Lead end-to-end UX engagements including discovery, user research, journey mapping, wireframing, prototyping, and design validation.
  • Conduct user interviews, stakeholder workshops, and usability testing to inform design decisions.
  • Create high-fidelity mockups, interactive prototypes, and design systems in Figma or comparable tools.
  • Develop service blueprints, personas, user flows, and experience maps for multi-channel services.
  • Facilitate co-design sessions with clients and end users to explore and refine solutions.
  • Collaborate with project managers, developers, business analysts, and cloud architects to carry design intent through delivery.
  • Champion accessibility and Section 508 / WCAG compliance across design artifacts.
  • Establish UX standards, reusable component libraries, and design governance across project portfolios.
  • Mentor junior designers and promote human-centered design practices within delivery teams.

Requirements

  • 7–10+ years of UX or service design experience with a portfolio showing end-to-end work on complex digital systems.
  • Expert proficiency in Figma, Adobe XD, or Sketch, with the ability to build interactive client-ready prototypes independently.
  • Background in visual design, graphic design, fine arts, illustration, or a related creative discipline.
  • Strong service design experience producing service blueprints, journey maps, and experience frameworks across multi-channel services.
  • Comfortable in client-facing settings and able to facilitate workshops, present design rationale, and incorporate feedback.
  • Solid understanding of IT systems and application architecture.
  • Experience working in Agile or DevSecOps delivery environments alongside engineering teams.
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards including Section 508 and WCAG 2.1 AA, as well as federal digital service guidelines such as USWDS.
  • Ability to collaborate across multiple teams and programs simultaneously in a distributed environment.
  • Preferred experience supporting federal, defense, or public-sector digital transformation programs.
  • Familiarity with research and collaboration tools such as Dovetail, Miro, and Optimal Workshop.
  • Background in content design, information architecture, or UX writing is preferred.
  • Agile, IDEO, or formal UX certification preferred, such as Nielsen Norman Group or Certified Usability Analyst.
  • Bachelor's degree in Design, Visual Arts, Human-Computer Interaction, Communications, or a related field; master's preferred for SME-level candidates.
  • A portfolio of work is required and will be reviewed during the interview process.
  • Must complete a client-required background investigation and suitability determination, and may need to obtain and maintain a federal security clearance.
