Description

  • Lead the design process for the Playground OS with a focus on user needs, usability, and delightful interactions for kids and adults.
  • Design and prototype the UI/UX for a custom Android-based operating system, including navigation, settings, and play modes.
  • Design web-based features that let users manage their Playground account off-device.
  • Collaborate with product leaders, engineers, and marketers to clarify requirements, align on objectives, and deliver design solutions.
  • Create wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs for new features and iterate with engineering based on feedback and testing.
  • Conduct user research and usability testing to validate decisions, identify pain points, and improve solutions.
  • Participate in and lead research and testing to build stronger customer empathy across the team.
  • Help build, maintain, and audit a consistent design language and design system across OS and web platforms.
  • Advocate for the value of design systems to stakeholders across the company.
  • Seek opportunities to improve the first-time user experience, core browsing experience, and other features that drive engagement and retention.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in product design, UI/UX design, or a similar role.
  • Experience with software development and the processes and practices associated with it.
  • Strong portfolio showing interaction design, visual design, and user experience work for consumer-facing digital products.
  • High-quality visual and interaction design sensibility.
  • Proficiency with design and prototyping tools such as Figma, Sketch, or similar tools.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to articulate design decisions and advocate for user-centered design.
  • Ability to balance multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Ability to work through ambiguous problems and turn them into clear goals.
  • Passion for creating engaging experiences for families, children, and friends.
  • Experience designing operating systems or 10-foot UI experiences is preferred.
  • Experience conducting user research and usability testing is preferred.
  • Familiarity with designing entertainment experiences with curated or editorialized content is preferred.
  • Knowledge of design systems and reusable design components is preferred.
