Description

  • Analyze Control-M and/or Atomic schedules on the mainframe.
  • Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and investigation of JCL jobs, including spool and SMF analysis.
  • Analyze CICS environments, loaded programs, and related configurations.
  • Use ISPF, GDG, PSD, and MFT during migration investigations.
  • Convert mainframe batch jobs written in JCL into PowerShell scripts for Azure.
  • Configure and automate nightly, weekly, and monthly batch jobs in Azure.
  • Optimize batch job performance, including concurrency, multi-threading, and thread safety.
  • Discover and document business requirements for batch jobs.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to clarify technical and operational expectations.
  • Develop and maintain PowerShell modules, including code signing and security practices.
  • Participate in daily standups, sprint planning, and troubleshooting sessions.
  • Work with cross-functional teams, including front-end, back-end, database, and mainframe experts.

Requirements

  • Expert knowledge of mainframe JCL.
  • Expertise with mainframe job schedulers, especially Control-M.
  • Expert knowledge of mainframe CICS, with familiarity in CA Ideal.
  • Strong experience with PowerShell scripting and automation in Azure.
  • Expert knowledge of mainframe batch job concepts, including JCL, GDG, and PDS.
  • Experience with C#/.NET, SQL Server, and Azure Storage.
  • Understanding of thread safety, locking mechanisms, and concurrency in scripting.
  • Experience with migration projects, preferably mainframe to cloud.
  • Ability to interpret and convert JCL scripts to PowerShell.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies and working in cross-functional teams.
  • Experience operationalizing batch jobs.
