Description

  • Own architecture and hands-on delivery for vector search, retrieval, document processing, chunking, ingestion pipelines, and downstream APIs.
  • Set technical direction for hybrid search and evaluate embedding models and retrieval methods through POCs, benchmarks, and production implementations.
  • Improve parsing and chunking of clinical documents for accurate, structured, and faceted retrieval.
  • Build stable retrieval for agent and re-extraction workloads using durable identifiers, context assembly, versioned indices, and quality signals.
  • Strengthen document classification, ingestion visibility, deduplication, and clinical concept normalization at scale.
  • Integrate LLM capabilities into production systems with attention to performance, scalability, cost, observability, and safety.
  • Partner with clinical, engineering, product, and subject-matter stakeholders to prioritize work, define metrics, and sequence roadmap investments.
  • Provide technical leadership through architecture decisions, design reviews, documentation, mentoring, and tradeoff management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 10+ years of software engineering experience, including ownership of production systems at scale.
  • 5+ years building and shipping AI/ML applications in production, including retrieval-augmented systems, vector search, document-centric pipelines, evaluation, and LLM or agent integration.
  • Principal-level or equivalent individual contributor experience setting technical direction and delivering critical-path production code.
  • Strong hands-on Python expertise and experience with testing, code review, workflow orchestration, agile delivery, and large codebases.
  • Experience designing and operating AI systems in cloud environments; AWS is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with CI/CD, observability, and production support.
  • Ability to work independently, influence without direct authority, align stakeholders, and communicate with technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience with clinical or structured healthcare documents, document-centric search, RAG, or agent-based retrieval is preferred.
  • Experience in healthcare, life sciences, regulated industries, or designing retrieval interfaces for multi-step LLM workflows is preferred.
