Description

  • Oversee tech transfers, process improvements, and best-practice development for the Extractions Lab.
  • Help set priorities and define required resources with the Director, Extractions Operations.
  • Manage a direct team responsible for operations, quality, service, and assigned project or product-line outcomes.
  • Coordinate change control, documentation updates, and stakeholder interactions across Natera teams.
  • Design the form and content of Extractions procedure documents and recommend improvements to usability and accuracy.
  • Identify process and workflow improvement opportunities and lead projects to implement them.
  • Represent the needs and concerns of Extraction teams in product launches.
  • Collaborate with engineering, equipment, quality, regulatory, and other stakeholders to secure resources and coordinate tasks.
  • Support employee development through reviews, coaching, mentoring, training, and professional development planning.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Molecular Biology or a related field, or equivalent.
  • At least 6 years of industry experience in genetic testing or a related field.
  • Previous management experience is required.
  • Previous experience with assay development and/or QC is strongly desired.
  • CLIA/FDA laboratory support experience is strongly desired.
  • Experience working in a regulated environment such as GMP, ISO, CLIA, CAP, or FDA.
  • Extensive experience mentoring and managing a diverse group of laboratory personnel with mixed technical backgrounds.
  • Strong technical expertise in molecular biology and NGS-based laboratory assays.
  • Extensive design, troubleshooting, and diagnostic experience with molecular assays.
  • Experience with formal quality management systems and development/documentation of standard operating procedures.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, problem-solving, and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, including occasional evenings and weekends.
  • Ability to complete HIPAA/PHI privacy, policy compliance, and security training within the first 30 days of hire.
  • Must maintain current status on Natera training requirements.
  • Ability to work in a laboratory or office setting, use laboratory equipment, and lift up to 20 pounds.
