Description

  • Monitor workflow and ensure production goals, turnaround times, and service-level deadlines are met.
  • Plan staffing and equipment needs to support future growth and production demands.
  • Track and analyze production metrics, including efficiency, scrap waste, error rates, and deadline performance.
  • Oversee quality control and assurance programs, test results, and related equipment.
  • Use operational data to drive decision-making, cost reduction, and quality improvements.
  • Manage headcount, interviewing, PTO, and overtime to maintain appropriate staffing levels.
  • Lead continuous improvement efforts to refine lab processes and improve operations.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact when the senior manager is unavailable and act as a process and product resource.
  • Troubleshoot lab processing errors and recommend corrective actions to lab leadership and technical stakeholders.
  • Initiate and close CAPAs and support NCR closeout in a timely manner.
  • Ensure lab compliance with regulatory requirements and approved testing procedures.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and efficient work environment.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including OPS, Accessioning, Engineering, Stats, R&D, and Support.
  • Handle employee issues and partner with Senior Manager and Human Resources to resolve them.
  • Conduct performance reviews, lead team meetings, and develop direct reports through training and cross-training opportunities.

Requirements

  • BS/BA degree in Biological Sciences, a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of industry-related experience preferred.
  • Current ASCP board certification in Medical Technology is a plus.
  • California State CLS or CGMBS license (Clinical Genetics Molecular Biologist Scientist) is a plus.
  • Exceptional multitasking, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to organize and prioritize work.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across all levels of the organization.
  • Experience building and managing a high-performing, engaged team.
