Description

  • Provide technical leadership across the platform team through influence, example, and clear decision-making.
  • Evaluate and challenge architectural decisions, identifying risks early and proposing corrections.
  • Apply expertise in modern backend engineering and/or the modern data stack to unblock technical problems.
  • Use AI tools daily for proof of concepts, code reviews, and documentation.
  • Collaborate with existing technical leads and stakeholders to co-create solutions and manage disagreements constructively.
  • Communicate decisions and standards through ADRs and RFCs.
  • Support modernization efforts while accounting for legacy and on-premises constraints.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Tech Lead or Staff Engineer leading through influence, consensus, and example.
  • Strong architectural judgment and experience validating technical decisions.
  • Current knowledge of modern backend engineering, including Python, APIs, microservices, and CI/CD, and/or the modern data stack, including dbt, Redshift, orchestration, and Data Mesh.
  • Sufficient depth in at least one of the above areas to unblock the team on concrete problems.
  • Active use of AI tools in daily engineering work.
  • Strong political and interpersonal skills for collaborating with technical stakeholders and handling disagreement constructively.
  • Experience documenting decisions through ADRs, RFCs, and technical standards.
  • Experience across both backend and the full modern data stack is a plus.
  • Experience with Internal Developer Platforms and golden paths such as Backstage or NullPlatform is a plus.
  • Experience with AI/LLM platforms is a plus.
  • Strong DevOps knowledge, ideally with AWS, is a plus.
  • Experience leading modernization in legacy or on-premises environments is a plus.
  • Previous experience in the banking or financial industry is a plus.
