Description

Draft, review, and negotiate commercial, licensing, and IP agreements with publishers, rightsholders, DSPs, AI services, suppliers, and data providers.
Prepare and maintain NDAs, vendor agreements, distribution policies, and other company policies, papers, and precedents.
Update precedent agreements and templates to keep them fit for purpose.
Advise the business on copyright law for existing and proposed opportunities, including new product features, podcasts, and AI-related use cases.
Track copyright law developments across the UK, EU, and US and translate their business implications.
Support data protection matters and help keep policies and procedures aligned with GDPR and other privacy regulations.
Manage copyright claims and disputes and coordinate with external counsel on litigation matters when needed.
Identify and mitigate legal and commercial risk across new and existing business lines.
Develop and maintain relationships with publishing associations, collecting societies, and major and independent publishers.
Support negotiation and execution of agreements with publishers and rightsholders.

Requirements

Qualified lawyer, preferably trained at a leading firm.
Several years of post-qualification experience, ideally in music, media, entertainment, or digital/tech.
Strong academic background.
Demonstrated experience drafting and negotiating a wide range of commercial, licensing, and IP agreements.
Solid working knowledge of copyright law, music publishing/licensing structures, and data protection.
Strong commercial awareness with the ability to balance legal risk and pragmatic business advice.
Highly organised, proactive, and comfortable managing multiple concurrent matters in a fast-paced, scaling environment.
Experience working with or managing external counsel across multiple jurisdictions is a plus.

Gross annual base salary of £100,000–120,000, depending on experience and seniority.
