Description

  • Design, implement, and evolve scalable, production-grade data pipelines and infrastructure.
  • Build reliable systems using cloud-native and DevOps practices, including CI/CD, infrastructure as code, monitoring, and automated testing.
  • Lead data ingestion and integration for complex, high-volume datasets with strong freshness, quality, integrity, lineage, and data contracts.
  • Create systems that enable domain experts to contribute to and maintain their own data pipelines.
  • Transform raw inputs into structured, trusted data products for analytical and product teams.
  • Partner with data scientists, researchers, product teams, and operational data managers to align data models with real-world usage.
  • Make thoughtful decisions about when and how to apply AI to improve team effectiveness and your own work.
  • Mentor engineers and help shape technical direction through architectural reviews and roadmap planning.
  • Strengthen team culture through documentation and knowledge sharing.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of relevant experience in data engineering or a related field.
  • Deep experience designing and operating data pipelines and orchestration frameworks such as Dagster or Airflow.
  • Strong understanding of ELT and analytics engineering patterns such as dbt, dimensional modeling, and data contracts.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud data platforms such as Snowflake and cloud infrastructure such as AWS.
  • Proficiency in Python, containerization with Docker, and modern deployment patterns.
  • Experience working in lean, cross-functional teams with evolving requirements.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical partners.
  • Familiarity with voter file data is preferred.
  • Experience with or interest in political data is preferred.
  • Background in political tech, civic tech, advocacy, or mission-driven organizations is preferred.
  • Experience supporting other data functions such as data scientists or data managers is preferred.
  • Experience applying AI/ML techniques to voter or political data is preferred.
