Description

  • Lead complex, ambiguous, and high-stakes research studies that shape product vision at the organizational level.
  • Drive user-centered decision-making at the executive level and ensure user needs inform long-term product and business strategy.
  • Partner with product, design, engineering, data science, and marketing to identify research opportunities and align insights to business priorities.
  • Integrate qualitative and quantitative research with behavioral data and market intelligence into cohesive, evidence-based user insights.
  • Apply AI tools thoughtfully across the research workflow while critically reviewing outputs for accuracy.
  • Define standards and frameworks for responsible AI use in research and help establish Mozilla’s ethical AI-assisted research practice.
  • Set methodological standards for the research team, identify capability gaps, and mentor Staff researchers and below.
  • Translate research findings into clear, actionable insights that inform roadmaps and strategy.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of applied research experience or equivalent, including strategic research leadership in complex organizations.
  • At least 6 years of experience in the tech/SaaS industry.
  • Extensive experience leading both evaluative and generative research across the product development lifecycle.
  • Deep expertise in qualitative methods such as interviews, concept testing, and usability studies.
  • Practical experience with quantitative methods such as survey design and data analysis.
  • Demonstrated success in fast-paced, agile environments with shifting priorities.
  • Strong judgment in setting research priorities, making trade-offs across multiple workstreams, and advising other researchers.
  • Deep, current knowledge of AI tools used in research workflows, including the ability to evaluate outputs critically and guide responsible use.
  • Recognized internal expertise in research methodology, with the ability to introduce novel approaches when standard methods fall short.
  • Collaborative, influential communication skills and experience building cross-functional alignment through evidence-based insights.
