Description

  • Set the long-term design vision for Business Banking and lead large end-to-end design projects in ambiguous problem spaces.
  • Deliver high-impact design work while managing and developing a small number of designers.
  • Partner with product, engineering, research, data, and cross-functional leaders to define product strategy and turn it into actionable plans.
  • Navigate tradeoffs and guide strategic decisions in a clear, opinionated way.
  • Raise the bar for design craft and product excellence across Monzo through high-quality work.
  • Proactively address systemic challenges, reduce complexity, and improve team conditions for impactful delivery.
  • Act as a visible ambassador for Design by sharing work and impact across the company.
  • Mentor and level up designers across the discipline, supporting growth, collaboration, and belonging.
  • Contribute to hiring, onboarding, and the creation of scalable design resources.

Requirements

  • Deep expertise in a specific design discipline with strong foundational product design skills.
  • Experience managing designers while staying hands-on in craft.
  • Ability to shape product direction within a multi-squad domain and translate organizational goals into actionable plans.
  • Proven track record of delivering high-impact design work that drives customer outcomes, influences company metrics, and supports commercial goals.
  • Strong visual, UI, and interaction design skills, including complex interaction design.
  • Ability to thrive in ambiguity and lead in complex, fast-changing environments.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills and the ability to improve ways of working.
  • Curiosity and willingness to keep learning new tools, ways of working, and technology.
  • Pragmatic, proactive approach focused on improving Design’s impact while getting the job done.
  • Experience helping grow a design team through hiring, onboarding, or resource creation is preferred.
