Description

  • Perform independent validation of FinCrime and Fraud models using proportionate modelling techniques.
  • Write clear model validation reports and present findings to relevant committees.
  • Review FinCrime and Fraud model changes and recommend improvements to first-line teams.
  • Build relationships with first-line modelling and wider risk teams to support the model risk framework and model inventory management.
  • Monitor ongoing model performance and support action when models move outside risk thresholds.
  • Support model validation activity across Financial, Operational, and Credit disciplines when needed.
  • Research and learn the latest modelling and validation techniques.
  • Support the Model Risk Oversight Committee by attending meetings and contributing to discussions.
  • Help promote and embed a strong risk culture across Monzo.

Requirements

  • Experience developing and/or validating models in Financial Crime, Fraud, Credit, Interest Rate, Liquidity, Regulatory Capital, Stress Testing, or Forecasting.
  • In-depth knowledge of statistical techniques for risk management.
  • Experience managing a modelling project through its full lifecycle.
  • Strong technical skills such as SQL or Python.
  • Working knowledge of machine learning models, such as gradient boosted trees.
  • Ability to communicate complex problems clearly.
  • Ability to provide effective challenge while building respectful relationships.
  • Self-motivated and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Some understanding of customer risk assessment controls, transaction monitoring controls, financial crime and fraud typologies, or experience in a transaction-driven business is preferred.

  • Salary of £59,500 to £70,000 depending on experience.
