Description

  • Design computational engineering problems that challenge a frontier AI model and require a verifiable numerical answer.
  • Select an anchor tool and build problems that depend on its solvers, simulation kernels, or domain-specific models.
  • Write Python reference solutions and provide any needed input files or geometry definitions.
  • Set the correct numerical answer and define an appropriate domain-specific tolerance for grading.
  • Test tasks in batches of parallel model attempts and tune difficulty to reach the target pass-rate range.
  • Refine load cases, boundary conditions, and other parameters based on model behavior during calibration.
  • Work with a senior reviewer in the relevant subfield and incorporate feedback to improve task quality.
  • Ensure the final task runs correctly inside a sealed Linux container with a pre-installed specialized tool and programmatic judge.

Requirements

  • Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • 2+ years of research, applied, or teaching experience.
  • Python proficiency for writing reference solutions.
  • Fluency with, or strong willingness to independently learn, at least one scriptable civil engineering package such as OpenSeesPy, CalculiX, YADE, bempp-cl, or similar tools.
  • Ability to design problems that genuinely require a specialized solver rather than generic numerical libraries.
  • Strong written English at C1 level or above.
  • Openness to part-time, non-permanent project-based work.
  • Ability to work independently and get up to speed quickly on new tools if needed.
  • Submission of a CV in English and indication of English proficiency.
