Description

  • Design computational chemistry problems that require a specialized solver and produce answers verifiable by code.
  • Choose an anchor tool and build tasks around its force fields, integrators, electronic-structure methods, basis sets, or pseudopotential workflows.
  • Write Python reference solutions for each task.
  • Prepare input files and molecular or crystal structure definitions needed to run the problem.
  • Set numerical answers and define appropriate domain-specific tolerances for grading.
  • Test tasks in parallel attempts and tune difficulty until the model’s pass rate falls within the target range.
  • Revise molecular geometries, basis sets, and convergence thresholds to calibrate task difficulty.
  • Review how the model behaves on simulations and use those observations to improve the task.
  • Collaborate through a senior review process to refine task quality after calibration.
  • Work on project-based assignments during active phases and complete tasks for payment.

Requirements

  • Degree in Chemistry or a related field.
  • 2+ years of research, applied, or teaching experience.
  • Experience with Python and ability to write reference solutions.
  • Fluency with, or strong willingness to independently learn, at least one scriptable computational chemistry package such as GROMACS, LAMMPS, PySCF, ORCA, xtb, CREST, Quantum ESPRESSO, phonopy, pymatgen, AutoDock Vina, or GNINA.
  • Ability to design problems that genuinely require a specialized solver.
  • Strong written English proficiency at C1 level or higher.
  • Availability for part-time, non-permanent project work.
  • Willingness to learn tools independently if you do not already have prior experience with them.
  • Ability to submit a CV in English.
  • Ability to indicate your English proficiency level.
