Description

  • Design computational chemistry problems that require a specialized solver and have answers verifiable by code.
  • Select an anchor tool such as GROMACS, PySCF, ORCA, Quantum ESPRESSO, AutoDock Vina, or similar packages.
  • Create tasks that hinge on tool-specific workflows such as force fields, integrators, electronic-structure methods, basis sets, or pseudopotentials.
  • Write Python reference solutions for the tasks you create.
  • Prepare input files and molecular or crystal structure definitions as needed.
  • Determine the correct numerical answer and define an appropriate tolerance for grading.
  • Test tasks in batches of parallel runs and tune difficulty to achieve the target pass rate.
  • Revise geometries, convergence thresholds, and other task parameters based on model performance.
  • Submit polished tasks for senior review and incorporate feedback to ensure quality.

Requirements

  • Degree in Chemistry or a related field.
  • 2+ years of research, applied, or teaching experience.
  • Python proficiency for writing reference solutions.
  • Fluency with, or strong willingness to independently learn, at least one scriptable computational chemistry package such as GROMACS, LAMMPS, PySCF, ORCA, xtb, CREST, Quantum ESPRESSO, phonopy, pymatgen, AutoDock Vina, or GNINA.
  • Ability to design problems that genuinely require a specialized solver.
  • Strong written English at C1 level or higher.
  • CV must be submitted in English.
  • Applicants should indicate their English proficiency level.
  • Willingness to work part-time on non-permanent, project-based assignments.
  • Ability to learn tools independently and ramp up quickly if prior tool experience is limited.
