Description

  • Design computational chemistry problems that challenge a frontier AI model and produce answers that can be verified by code.
  • Choose an anchor tool such as GROMACS, PySCF, ORCA, Quantum ESPRESSO, AutoDock Vina, or similar specialized software.
  • Create tasks that depend on force fields, integrators, electronic-structure methods, basis sets, or pseudopotential workflows.
  • Write Python reference solutions and provide any required input files or molecular or crystal structure definitions.
  • Set the correct numerical answer and define an appropriate domain-specific tolerance for scoring.
  • Test and tune problems in batches of parallel attempts to achieve the target difficulty and pass rate.
  • Iterate on geometries, basis sets, and convergence thresholds to calibrate task difficulty.
  • Review how the model solves or fails tasks and refine the problem accordingly.
  • Prepare tasks for senior review and incorporate feedback to improve quality.

Requirements

  • Degree in Chemistry or a related field.
  • 2+ years of research, applied, or teaching experience.
  • Python proficiency for writing reference solutions.
  • Fluency with, or strong willingness to independently learn, at least one scriptable computational chemistry package such as GROMACS, LAMMPS, PySCF, ORCA, xtb, CREST, Quantum ESPRESSO, phonopy, pymatgen, AutoDock Vina, or GNINA.
  • Ability to design problems that genuinely require a specialized solver.
  • Strong written English (C1+).
  • Experience with the listed tools is not required if you are willing to learn independently and ramp up quickly.
  • Willingness to work on part-time, non-permanent, project-based assignments.
  • Ability to provide your CV in English and indicate your English proficiency level.
