Description

  • Own feature design and review solution designs, providing feedback to improve technical outcomes.
  • Identify performance issues and optimize solutions across the full solution stack.
  • Translate business needs into functional requirements and communicate technical details clearly to business stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams, program managers, product managers, and business stakeholders to define and implement technical solutions.
  • Participate in defining, scoping, and estimating user stories and work items.
  • Maintain a high bar for code quality, testing, and automation, and continuously improve engineering practices.
  • Lead design and code reviews to ensure the team ships scalable, maintainable, and well-tested code.
  • Support cloud-oriented DevOps practices, including monitoring, alerting, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud infrastructure.
  • Own and influence architecture and design decisions across teams and downstream/upstream integrations.
  • Break down large technical work into smaller tasks and support junior engineers in delivery.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of professional experience delivering quality software, ideally across the full stack.
  • Excellent proficiency in an object-oriented language such as Java.
  • Strong experience with Java and the Java Spring Boot framework.
  • Experience with Kubernetes and Docker.
  • Test automation experience at all levels: unit, integration, regression, and load.
  • Familiarity with modern infrastructure tools and pipelines such as GitLab CI/CD and Terraform.
  • Experience with RESTful architecture and microservices.
  • Experience with system design, architecture, scaling, and performance testing.
  • Experience building services is a plus.
  • Experience with cloud technologies, especially AWS.
  • Experience with databases such as PostgreSQL.
  • Experience with cache-based low-latency system design.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD and testing tools.
  • Strong understanding of computer science fundamentals.
  • Familiarity with ops tools, logging, and metrics such as New Relic and Splunk.
  • Experience with messaging technologies and patterns such as Kafka and SQS.
