Description

  • Lead and develop a team of network and software engineers, including performance management and career development.
  • Drive a high-performance culture centered on automation, reliability, and continuous improvement.
  • Own the infrastructure modernization roadmap as Marqeta transitions from data centers to a cloud-native network architecture.
  • Champion infrastructure-as-code and automation practices, including Terraform, to reduce manual operations.
  • Design secure, scalable network solutions across AWS and physical infrastructure.
  • Oversee AWS cloud networking, including VPCs, Transit Gateways, Direct Connect, CloudFront, and Route53.
  • Maintain 99.999% uptime through proactive monitoring, incident response, and ongoing optimization.
  • Lead troubleshooting and resolution of complex network issues across cloud and on-premises environments.
  • Own corporate network infrastructure across headquarters and remote office locations, including Wi-Fi, Meraki, ISP, and circuit management.
  • Partner with security, platform, infrastructure, and vendor teams to align network strategy, policies, contracts, and service levels.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of network engineering experience in production environments.
  • At least 3 years of experience leading and developing technical teams.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Cisco switching platforms and routing protocols such as BGP and OSPF.
  • Experience architecting and managing Palo Alto Networks firewall deployments.
  • Deep practical knowledge of AWS cloud networking, including VPCs, Transit Gateways, Direct Connect, CloudFront, and Route53.
  • Track record of owning and maintaining high-availability networks at 99.9%+ uptime.
  • Experience with Terraform and infrastructure-as-code practices.
  • Strong foundation in network automation, scripting, and DevOps practices.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • Preferred experience in payments, financial services, or another highly regulated industry.
  • Preferred familiarity with PCI-DSS or other compliance frameworks.
  • Preferred industry certifications such as CCIE, CCNP, PCNSE, or AWS Advanced Networking.
  • Preferred hands-on experience with network observability tools and practices.
  • Preferred background leading infrastructure modernization or cloud migration initiatives.
  • Preferred experience with SD-WAN technologies.
