Description

  • Prepare quarterly and annual worldwide income tax provisions and related disclosures in accordance with U.S. GAAP, ASC 740, and FIN 48.
  • Manage the monthly and quarterly close process, including transfer pricing calculations, tax journal entries, and tax account reconciliations.
  • Maintain and document worldwide income tax provisions in compliance with SOX 404 requirements.
  • Research complex tax issues, monitor tax legislation and accounting standard updates, and assess tax impacts.
  • Coordinate and prepare income tax returns with outside tax providers, and review federal, international, and state tax filings.
  • Work with outside service providers to prepare the annual U.S. R&D credit.
  • Manage income tax audits and respond to tax notices and IDR requests.
  • Identify and implement improvements in systems, tools, and processes to improve accuracy and efficiency.
  • Assist with special projects such as transfer pricing strategy, M&A transactions, and restructuring.

Requirements

  • CPA certification.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
  • 12+ years of relevant experience.
  • 8+ years of significant experience with ASC 740 and U.S. international tax matters, including GILTI, FDII, BEAT, FTC, and tax treaties.
  • 5+ years of experience on in-house tax teams.
  • Strong understanding of income tax regulations in all 50 states and at the federal level.
  • 4 years of work experience at a Big 4 accounting firm focused on income tax provision.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment, ideally in the tech industry.
  • Strong deadline management skills and the ability to lead cross-functional collaborators to a timeline.
  • Detail-oriented and deadline-oriented approach.
  • Advanced degree in accounting and/or tax, such as an MST or LLM, is a plus.
  • Experience working at a publicly traded company similar in size to Marqeta is preferred.

  • Base salary range of $147,000–$183,700 nationally, $159,000–$198,800 in Premium locations, and $172,900–$216,100 in Premium Plus locations.
