Description

  • Partner with executive leadership to define and optimize the company’s global tax strategy.
  • Lead and scale the tax function to support organizational growth and expansion initiatives.
  • Oversee timely and accurate preparation, review, and approval of U.S. and Canadian federal, state, and provincial tax filings across all tax types.
  • Manage global income tax provision calculations, journal entries, footnote disclosures, and supporting documentation.
  • Lead compliance calendar management and ensure supporting workpapers, depreciation calculations, and deferred tax schedules are completed on time.
  • Direct internal and external resources and coordinate communications with tax jurisdictions on correspondence, audits, and optimization efforts.
  • Advise on tax implications and strategies for strategic growth initiatives, including acquisitions, construction projects, joint ventures, and executive compensation.
  • Lead tax planning efforts, property tax valuation challenges, and tax incentive pursuits.
  • Support financial reporting and audit discussions related to the tax provision.
  • Evaluate and implement policy, process, and software improvements to improve and scale the tax function.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting from an accredited university, with a Master of Taxation preferred.
  • CPA certification preferred.
  • 10+ years of U.S. corporate income tax compliance or tax return experience.
  • 10+ years of income tax provision preparation experience, including journal entries and footnotes.
  • Experience with U.S. partnership reporting and Canadian corporate income tax and/or partnership reporting.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of all tax types, including income, sales and use, Canadian VAT, property, and payroll taxes.
  • Experience with transfer pricing concepts, transactions, and documentation.
  • Proven ability to lead teams and manage internal stakeholders and external advisors.
  • Strong communication skills for working with executive leadership, legal, accounting, HR, sales, construction, and operations teams.
  • Experience managing correspondence and audits with multiple tax jurisdictions.
  • Strong understanding of tax provision and compliance software, with CCH/Wolters Kluwer preferred.
  • Strong ERP and systems skills, with NetSuite and Excel preferred.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Telecom, data center, or real estate industry experience preferred.
  • Authorization to work for any employer in the U.S.; sponsorship is not available, including CPT/OPT.
